Having stayed in many holiday cottages/apartments over the years, Hillfield has to go to the top of the list. The location is superb. Attention to detail in the cottages is excellent and guest’s comfort and requirements have obviously been well researched. This is our first visit and we shall certainly return-if only to try out every single cottage! Comfort and quality of everything at Hillfield cannot be bettered, perhaps cups and saucers could be provided as not everyone likes to drink out of mugs. Otherwise everything else is perfect. Recommends.

Your accommodation was warm and comfortable in delightful surroundings. It allowed us the peace and quiet to relax despite the poor weather. We would recommend the Thai Restaurant in Dartmouth which gave excellent service and probably the best meal of our stay (Khrua Thai) at an affordable rate for a family group. We were grateful for your suggestion of the
River Dart Country Park for our Teenagers and wonder if it would be worth an inclusion in your list of activities as information was hard to come by even in the Tourist Information Centres.
(Keepers Cottage) 14th August
We had had a wonderful stay at Hillfields. The cottages exceeded expectations and the grounds were immaculately kept. We will certainly recommend you to our friends and hope to return again soon. This is the second time we have visited and the accommodation is faultless. The addition of the children’s play area is particularly welcome. We’ll be back!
Mrs Bunyan 10th July 2008
This is our forth stay at Hillfield and ever closer acquaintance reinforces our very first impression of an attractive site, excellently located and offering an almost bewildering array of high quality accommodation. Particularly worthy of a mention, however, we feel , is the sincere personal touch which Caroline and Michael display and which is singularly lacking at some other locations where staff are impersonal and most disinterested. A friendly, welcoming manner and a lively concern for guest welfare are the distinctive feature of the Hillfield Scene.
For the first time on our visits to Dartmouth we have eaten at the
Church House Inn at Stokenham and the
Cricket Inn at Beesands are both fine additions to the eating out guide. Staff at both has been friendly and welcoming, dining areas pleasant and congenial and menus on both offering a generous choice of excellent meals, reasonably priced and attractively presented. We commend both venues, unreservedly, to anyone visiting this area.
Mr & Mrs Crossley 3rd July 2008
One of the best holidays we have had! A very friendly atmosphere mixed with superb scenery and quality accommodation. We cannot fault it! We would recommend
The Church House Inn at Stokenham, they gave us an excellent meal, very clean and food reasonably priced. The children liked the beach at
East Portlemouth the best and the sand was soft and there was a gentle river flowing near by which the children could dam up.
Michael Ashcroft 28th June 2008.
Play area really good. Swimming pool looked nice but too cold this week. Really enjoyed great accommodation, all clean, good facilities and nice and quiet around in the evenings. Recommend the
Dart Marina Hotel for Dinner and
Alf Resco’s for Breakfast.
Mrs. Charman 27th June 2008
Excellent Accommodation. Really enjoyed the hot tub. Loved South Devon.
Mr. Williams 27th June 2008
Excellent accommodation, clean and well equipped. Complimentary wine a welcoming touch-will recommend to friends and family. We would recommend
Taylors Restaurant,
Jan & Freddies,
Venus Café Blackpool Sands, all excellent cuisine and service.
Mrs. Manners 27th June 2008
Great location. Great hot tub. Clean! Great to have a garden and play area for the children. We would recommend the
Sportsman’s Arms who were very accommodating especially with children. Excellent Sunday Carvery,
Round Robin was effortless!
Woodlands Leisure Park staff were friendly and helpful and it was a great day out for adults and children, lots to do for all ages.
Mr Davis 27th June 2008
Really enjoyed our stay, lovely accommodation, everything you could need for your holiday. Looking forward to visiting you when you have your new facilities. Information folders were really useful, especially the beach guide. We would recommend The sloping Deck bakery good food for snacks and picnics.
The Watermans Arms, Tuckenhay lovely setting by the river, children enjoyed feeding the ducks. Rios fish and chips Brixham.
Nick and Jane Willis 27th June 2008
Fantastic excellent standard of accommodation, we will recommend to all our friends and family.
Emma Bromley 27th June 2008
Good standard of properties that is very well equipped. We would recommend The
Laughing Monk at Strete. Great food and service- they even opened early for us! Very family friendly!
Mrs Hill 26th June 2008
Really enjoyed our stay in Court Cottage, well maintained and equipped, tactfully furnished, well considered space. Welcoming and helpful owners. The food at the
Laughing Monk at Strete was superb and they made an extra effort to cater for our three year old daughter. Fantastic Veggie food at the Willow Vegetarian Restaurant Totnes.
This is our forth visit in two years, this year we stayed in the Court Cottages, accommodation which is five star and can’t be faulted. Every time we have stayed you always feel as if you are the first to be there, everywhere is so clean, better standards than a Hotel! We shall be back again.
Pennywell Farm is a great day out, loads for the Kids to do and great clean facilities. Loads of activities to do and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Julian & Louise Foster 13th June 2008
We had another great stay at Hillfields made better by the wonderful weather. It’s great to relax and enjoy the wonderful grounds and lovely surroundings. Our little boy loved his “new home” and the play area’s, it’s very safe and everyone is friendly and the owners are great! Good meal and service at the
Wildfire Bistro – very good with Children – not cheap!
Seabreeze Café at Slapton Sands is very nice, have kids toys inside to play with.
The South Devon Railway to Buckfastleigh is a great day out, Café at railway was very good value.
Vanessa Thompson-Lowe 13th June 2008

Nigel & Debra Payne 13th June 2008
Once again a lovely holiday! Elliott enjoyed visiting Reception to see Caroline. Shuffleboard Court was great fun! The Tennis Court & Swimming Pool just great! A longer stay would be better, see you again in August! Try the Anchorstone Café at Dittisham, great food, great views (P.S. Don’t tell everyone). Lovely food at the
Steam Packet Inn at Totnes.
Elizabeth, Alan & Elliott Whitworth 6th June 2008.
We had a lovely holiday, weather was great, and we only had one wet day. The accommodation was defiantly “5 Star” and would recommend it.

Very comfortable, high-quality accommodation. This has been a most enjoyable holiday. We love this area would like to come back again. (Great information packs in the accommodation) The bed was the comfiest ever - we want to take it home with us.
The “Living Coast” in Torquay was an excellent attraction.
Mr & Mrs Litt 5th June 2008
Total relaxation, most enjoyable. We would recommend a trip to
Dartington Cider Press and the fine cuisine at the
Stoke Lodge Hotel.
Mr & Mrs Gamage 6th June 2008

Just wanted to thank you for such a relaxing weekend for myself and 6 other girlfriends. We really loved staying in Keepers Lodge; we loved the very detailed guide and information books. You have put a lot of effort into those and they were so helpful. Everything about the house was fab.
Just a note to say thank you for a lovely week, great to see you all again happy anniversary to you and hope all goes well with your future plans the sunshine left us in Wiltshire, we had a good journey home and hope to see you again next year.
Bye for now Jean, Chas and Stephen Garrett
We have just returned from our holiday staying at Hillfields and I thought I would email you to say how much we all enjoyed our week with you. The Keepers Lodge was excellent and the peaceful setting was just what we were looking for. The weather was also very kind to us considering how it has been recently. Please also thank Michael for his personal attention including our tour around your current new developments. Looking forward to staying with you again in the near future.
Kind Regards, Steve and Pauline Turner, Steve and Trish Waters
Just wanted to thank you for sending back to us the variety of clothes that we left at in Keepers Lodge last week. With children it seems that however many times you check the cupboards something gets left! Also thanks for showing us around your new properties - I am sure we will be back soon to try one out. We had a lovely stay again, even though the weather wasn't the best.
Thanks again, Best Regards Jo Williams 26th January 2008
